TALK 06 - Three,
released February 1, 2018
The Australian scene itself is unique. This point is not a hyperbole as not a banal epithet about it, but it is a subtle observation of some music fans. Somehow it's clear that there are some conditions which affect its self-reliance and which have brought the scene to its own way. First, your favourite band will not come to Perth for e.g., because it is on tour, and this city is nearby. There are no festivals with top artists in line-ups in neighbouring countries. And finally, three thousand hours of sun per year just cannot affect, at all.
Bikini Cops is punk77 full of vitamin D. Deniz Tek, perhaps, would never become a surgeon if his band once sounded like these guys from WA. They do not bring new ideas, and songs such as "Stupid System", "Total Control" or "Violence" could easily be on records of Circle Jerks or Black Flag in legendary 80's. But Bikini Cops is not about L.A. in the golden age of punk rock. Bikini Cops is Perth, WA in 2018.
"Three" is swallowed famously in one gulp. Moreover, the album sounds like a school bully's attack on a break, who has only 15 minutes to get all the shit out of you.
TALK 06 is punk greetings from the Southern Hemisphere - Bikini Cops and their third record named "Three".
